Three-carrier theory of the high-field conductivity of irradiated non-polar liquids

A theory is presented, based on recombination concepts, in which free electrons, as well as positive and negative ions, contribute to the current density. Some results are given which show that the theory can reproduce the linear portion of the current-density curve. A comparison with some experimental results originally due to Adamczewski (1969) is given, and how the presented theory appears to predict the supralinear rise in current observed at field strengths on the order of 1 MV/m is explained.<
