A dynamic mechanical load emulation test facility to evaluate the performance of AC inverters

This paper outlines the design, construction and operation of the test facility. Its philosophy is primarily described with reference to the hardware based load emulator rig. A discussion of the global control structure designed to operate both the hardware and software tools is provided. The target mechanical load is a passenger lift and the paper outlines the mechanical characteristics of this application. Finally practical results for the hardware test facility show it is now fully operational.
