Robust adaptive fuzzy excitation control of multi-machine, electric power system

In this paper, an adaptive robust fuzzy controller is first proposed to enhance transient stability for power systems. An adaptive robust fuzzy systems approach to state feedback input/output linearizing controller is outlined. The analysis is based on a general nonlinear system, with uncertainties satisfying the matching conditions. The adaptive fuzzy system is incorporated into the control system as an outer feedback loop to increase the robustness of the i/o linearizing controller. The adaptive fuzzy system is also intended to add "intelligence" with the conventional i/o linearizing controller. The design of the resulting controller is independent of the operating points. Simulation results of a three-machines system show that transient stability of a power system can be improved under a large sudden fault.
