On boundary layer dimension reduction in sliding mode control of SISO uncertain nonlinear systems

The authors, proceeding by subsequent steps, present a variable structure control scheme devoted to the reduction of the boundary layer dimension so that the pleasant properties of sliding mode control are preserved and the chattering phenomenon is also avoided in the case of real plants.
