Introducing open electricity markets

The paper presents the introduction of an open electricity market in Victoria, Australia. This market has operated since June 1994. A new structure of a competitive market where independent energy suppliers and users create electricity prices is discussed. Relationships between pool participants, a network company and a pool company are presented.
