Remote maintenance in the food processing industry

General issues relating to the remote maintenance of complex equipment in the food processing industries are discussed. Specific food processing devices, their function and potential service situations are outlined. A generic architecture for remote maintenance, based on existing rather than new technology, is illustrated. The components and their functionality at a remote maintenance service center and the corresponding remote maintenance components at a remote site are presented.
