Genetic algorithm and Taylor development of the finite element solution for shape optimization of electromagnetic devices

This paper presents the optimization of an electromagnetic superconducting device by a genetic algorithm. To avoid the great computational cost of finite elements evaluations, we chose to couple our genetic algorithm with a fast evaluation method based on high derivatives and Taylor development of the finite element solution.
