A Simplified Self-Checking Design of Multioutput Circuits

In this paper, a new error-control technique for multioutput circuits is given. This technique uses two-rail code and Exclusive-OR functions to monitor the outputs of multioutput circuits. The design scheme has better efficiency than the existing schemes because it can detect multiple errors and gives the error indication immediately and the redundancy used is much lower. The detailed analysis of error characteristics and error coverage of this scheme are given. The methods for designing and minimizing the redundancy are presented.
