Optimization and thermal analysis of a new self-decelerating PM in-wheel motor for electric vehicles

With ever increasing concern about energy and environmental problems, Electric Vehicles(EVs) have been paid great attention in the recent years. A self-decelerating PM in-wheel motor[1], which features in combining coaxial magnetic gear with normal outer-rotor PMSM, has great advantages over free maintenance and low-speed high-torque output. Thus, it is particularly suitable for direct-driving in EVs.
