A component-based approach to telecommunication software

This article discusses a domain-specific component-based architecture called distributed feature composition. Based on the well-known pipe-and-filter architecture, DFC has been refined for use in the telecommunication domain. The authors also point to ways this approach might work in other domains, including data networks.
