Propagation of electromagnetic waves in cylindrical anisotropic dielectric waveguide

Summary form only given. Hollow dielectric waveguides are applied as transmission lines in submillimetre and optical ranges, as conducting media in amplifiers and as optical frequency generators. In the submillimetre range hollow dielectric waveguides (in combination with rectangular waveguides) are successfully used as directional couplers. Numerical results are obtained for the constants of symmetrical normal E- and H-type propagation modes for isotropic and anisotropic waveguides. The characteristics of the field intensity distribution of symmetrical H/sub 0n/- and E/sub 0n/-modes in the isotropic dielectric waveguide are also calculated.
