Structure of the local Alfven resonance in cylindrical plasmas placed into rippled magnetic field

Conditions are determined under which axial modulation of the steady magnetic field affects significantly the structure of the local Alfven resonance (AR) in quasi-cylindrical plasma fusion devices. The behaviour of the Alfven wave (AW) electromagnetic fields within the AR region is studied utilizing the perturbation theory and "narrow slab" approach.
