Coordinated Throttle and Brake Switching Control and RCP Design Based on dSPACE for Intelligent Vehicle

This paper focuses on coordinating throttle and brake switching control for vehicle longitudinal control. Firstly, upper controller is established to determine the desired speed and acceleration for the controlled vehicle. Secondly throttle and brake fuzzy controller is designed as the lower controller. Then a switching logic is proposed to realize throttle and brake switching smoothly. At last, the throttle and brake Rapid Control Prototype (RCP) is designed based on dSPACE which is easily and rapidly implemented using Matlab/Simulink for the RCP experiment. The simulation and experiment results show that the switch logic can easily coordinate the throttle and brake inputs, and provide smoothly speed output. The designed throttle and brake Rapid Control Prototype can realize the coordinated control for throttle and brake pedals.
