Thermal stability and corrosion resistance of Fe based high moment magnetic materials for thin film recording heads

Recently Fe based materials such as FeN, FeAlN and their multilayers have been shown very promising for high magnetization head applications. However, the thermal stability and corrosion resistance of these materials, which are extremely important to the fabrication process and product life of thin film recording heads, have not previously been thoroughly reported. This paper will present our investigations of the thermal stability and corrosion resistance of these films.
