Soft multiuser detection for downlink CDMA communications in multipath fading channels

We discuss the interference in downlink CDMA channels and consider the advantages of applying multiuser detection techniques, fast power control and convolutional coding in mobile stations. Simulation results in a two-path Rayleigh fading channel are presented showing that if the increased computational complexity is tolerable hard and soft multiuser detection results in improved performance.
