Comparative analysis of incremental conductance base MPPT for multi-string photovoltaic system

This work presents ansimulationcomparison of three algorithms developed in order to maximize theoutput power from a photovoltaic (PV) system for the same given set of conditions. Themaximum power point tracking (MPPT) methods proposed in this study are three extended algorithms : fixed step size(FSS) Incremental conductance method (ICM), variable step size(VSS) ICM and AdvancedVSSICM. Among all the MPPT strategies, the incremental conductance (INC) algorithm is widely employed due to easy implementation and high tracking accuracy. In this paper, a PV system based ona boost converter as MPPT device is considered. The different MPPT algorithum is simulated in PSIM 9.0 with simplified ‘C’ Programing. This papercompare the effect of step size on the performance of MPPT.
