Modular Web Application Research Based on OSGi

With the further development of information technology, web application, built in the traditional object-oriented way, is becoming difficult in application's upgrades and changes. In general, the application breaks down into independent modules by functionality, each of them is used to deals with specific business logic, is an effective and graceful design. The module's feature of high cohesion ensures that the application is easily modified, the characteristic of low coupling makes the application easy to optimize and expand. However, it is very difficult to construct a modular web application with Java language directly as Java do not have the nature of modularity at language-level. Through the study of OSGi specification, this paper divides the module into Business and Function Bundles and applies them in architecture design for web applications based on OSGi.
