Estimation over the collision channel: Structural results

We consider a remote estimation problem involving two sensors communicating over a collision channel. We obtain policies that minimize an expected squared error criterion, and we establish structural results that hinge on extensions of prior work on distributed estimation with communication costs and optimal quantization.
