Change of amber structure by pulsed power discharge

Summary form only given. Amber made from tree resin and taken around 100 million years. It is used for the manufacture of jewelry and ornamental objects. During experiments were used needle and plate electrode. A magnetic pulse compression circuit (MPC) was used to apply pulse power discharges. Applied voltage was around 25 kV and 4.5 joules per shot. During experiments 30 pps was applied. The number of shots was 1 to 10000. Pulse power discharges were done in air and silicone oil. Case of air, discharges was not passed inside amber. Discharge was run amber's surface. After discharges, amber became red color and smoothly like glass. Red color amber is not natural and become more attractive for the jewelry and customers. Different result was achieved discharges in silicone oil. Case of silicone oil, most of discharges was passed inside amber and make small cracks. Unfortunately, a lot of fake ambers are sold. Fake ambers are very similar to real amber. So, it is difficult to identify of real amber. The use of pulsed power plasma discharge allows recognization of real amber without an invasive method, which would damage the sample. For these experiments, we used four types of artificial amber under the same parameters as for real amber including shot number and voltage. Amber was identified by using pulse power discharge.
