Skin effect characterization in a squirrel cage induction machine

The aim of the paper is first to show off the unfitness of the classical two-phase model for giving a realistic dynamical response when applied to a deep rotor bars induction machine or to a solid rotor induction machine. The distribution of induced currents in massive conductors associated with skin effect is of great influence upon dynamical behavior. A theoretical study is presented which is directed towards the characterization of the evolution of resistance and inductance coefficients of a rectangular massive conductor considered alone and excited by a pure sinusoidal high frequency current. The same study is yielded by identifying electrical parameters of the 2-phase equivalent model. A characterization of the identified rotor parameters variations versus the supply voltage frequency is then presented.
