Not invented here: A psychoindustrial farce in one act

Dick, a group leader in the software division of a large computer company, Carl, a department head, Betty, a systems analyst, and Ned, a consultant, are faced with the problem of developing a large and complex software package in a very short time and without an adequate staff. Dick, an incorrigible perfectionist is suspicious, scornful, or ignorant of work done outside his own lab and will not make use of it when it is offered to him, especially when the source is another division of his own company. After a hilarious struggle, the others bring him to his senses just in time to prevent him from wrecking the project. The play runs 20 minutes and is intended to be followed by an open panel discussion in which the actors are the panelists. The purpose of the play is to exhibit the problem; the purpose of the panel discussion is to explore some of the solutions that should be available to management.
