Technical and management notes: Professional training for the engineer-manager (don't forget the “engineering”)

Engineering management is perhaps the most common career path for the successful engineer. In designing curricula to provide for the training of engineer-managers, engineering schools need to be responsive to the needs of the community and the individual engineer. These needs are best served by a program of study that addresses both the “management” needs and the “engineering” needs of the engineer-manager.
