The High Temperature Electronics Network (HITEN): a case study in providing Internet information services

HITEN (High Temperature Electronics Network) is a European Commission-sponsored information dissemination network. It recently made the transition into a commercial service, providing Internet-based products to a fee-paying membership. Initial results suggest that an Internet subscription service, targeted at the premium end of a qualified audience, is a viable business.
