International research and development trends and problems of HVDC cables with polymeric insulation

This paper addresses the worldwide research and development of HVDC cables with polymeric insulation. The unique features of the dc insulation characteristics of polyethylene are presented and discussed. The problems of using polymeric insulation in HVDC applications are presented and analyzed.
