A graphical user interface for pictorial database retrieval

We implement a flexible online storage and retrieval system of an image database. This system is novel in that it has a design consistent icon-oriented GUI and emphasizes the active role of "the user"; spatial relationships and color are used as the retrieval features and we select Oracle to manage the textual data in the image database.
