Cable network analysis for low voltage power distribution systems

This paper presents the analysis of transmission performance in a low voltage power distribution system. Several different topologies of power distribution networks within a community of buildings are analyzed in terms of its impact on voltage drop, cost efficiency, and transmission efficiency. Load profiles from six real campus buildings were used to simulate a community model in EDSA. This analysis can be utilized to increase low voltage grid efficiency in microgrids, emergency power distribution systems, or distribution grids in large structures. This paper's findings show that the typical cable topology is not necessarily always the most efficient. These results demonstrate the value of cable network analysis to network efficiency.
