Benefits of automatic Fault Detection, Isolation and Service Restoration on power distribution circuits

ENMAX Power Corporation in Calgary, Alberta, Canada has deployed an automatic Fault Detection, Isolation, and Service Restoration (FDIR) system to one third of its distribution circuits. The paper estimates the benefits to the utility and its customers captured by the system to date, and the benefits of further expansion of the system.
