Lateral far-field of multiple-stripe high power 1480nm broad-area-lasers for pulsed operation

High-power broad area (BA) laser diodes in the NIR around 1500nm become more and more interesting for material processing, medical and security applications, and pumping of crystals to realise solid state lasers. Efficient light coupling is a stringent requirement in all these applications and necessitates lasers with a narrow and preferably symmetric optical far-field.
