Buffer utility based control channel bandwidth allocation algorithm in IEEE 802.16 Mesh networks

IEEE 802.16 standard is one of the most promising standards for wireless broadband access in metropolitan scale, which is characterized by its high speed, wide coverage, flexible design, relay networking and mobility. The analysis on coordinated distributed scheduling (CDS) in Mesh mode shows that Randomized control bandwidth allocation algorithm of CDS can't guarantee QoS requirement. In order to improve network throughput and reduce end to end delay, a new buffer utility based control channel bandwidth allocation algorithm(BU-CDS) is proposed in this paper. In BU-CDS, butter utilities of competing nodes can be got with Cross-Lay method for computing priority of the nodes. To ease network congestion and improve resource utilization, the node with higher Buffer utility will be scheduled earlier. Simulation results show that this method effectively improves the throughput and reduces end to end delay.
