Event based content fusion in opportunistic environments

Content dissemination schemes in Opportunistic Networks (ONs) typically do not take advantage of the semantic similarity that might exist between two or more content data. However, content in opportunistic environments, share similarities as well as exhibit temporal, spatial and causal orderings among each other. In this research proposal, we propose the concept of content fusion in opportunistic networks where content is primarily generated in response to a physical event occurring in the user's environment. Content fusion mechanisms create higher level views of lower level events taking into account the mobile user's physical proximity to the actual event location. Recombination and merging techniques will be developed for content fusion that can minimize redundancy to reduce network congestion.
