Synthesis, characterization and electrochemical sensing properties of Fe doped V2O5 nanoparticles

In this paper, pure V
₂
O
₅
and 2%Fe doped V
₂
O
₅
nanoparticles were synthesized by a simple thermal decomposition method. The prepared samples were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) studies and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). The synthesized nanoparticles were used to modify glassy carbon electrode (GCE) and the modified electrode was used to detect uric acid (UA) by cyclic voltammetry. Particularly 2%Fe doped V
₂
O
₅
modified GCE showed excellent electrocatalytic activity towards the oxidation of UA. It indicated that our product can function as a good candidate for high performance electrochemical sensor.
