Synthesis and characterization of mercury doped and un-doped manganese sulfide nanostructure

Manganese sulfide (MnS
₂
) and Hg-doped manganese sulfide (Hg
_0.95
Mn
_0.05
)S nanostructures have been synthesized successfully by Solvent-Wet chemical method. The yields of the products are appreciable due to their less solubility at low temperature. Because of this advantage the above method was preferred. The MnS
₂
and Hg-MnS
₂
crystals were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction(XRD), Raman spectroscopy, Fourier transform -infrared spectroscopy (FT- IR), UV-Visible spectroscopy and Inductively coupled plasma with mass spectroscopy (ICP-MS) techniques. The presence of Hg as dopent was confirmed by ICP-MS.
