Setup for Low Temperature $\alpha $/ $\gamma $ Scintillation Measurements

We describe a setup we developed for the measurement of scintillation properties of crystals, from room temperature down to 3 K, under
$\alpha $
and
$\gamma $
particle irradiation which resolves lines from both types of excitations. This setup is described here and we report some results obtained with this setup on BGO (
${\hbox {Bi}}_{4}{\hbox {Ge}}_{3}{\hbox {O}}_{12}$
) and
${\hbox {ZnWO}}_{4}$
crystals.
