Abstract:

This paper deals with performance analysis of synchronous generator (SG) in stand-alone wind energy conversion system (SWECS) for three-phase four-wire consumer loads. To control the frequency of SWECS, a controller is used which consists of a four-leg insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBT's) based voltage source converter (VSC) with a battery at its dc link. An automatic voltage regulator is used to control the field excitation voltage to regulate the stator terminal voltage. The proposed SG based SWECS is modeled in MATLAB simulink environment using sim power system and discrete step solver. The simulated performance of SG based SWECS is demonstrated the function of controller as a load leveler, load balancer, neutral current compensator and harmonic eliminator.
