An editorial - A cry for help

I don't want to be overly dramatic, but one or more people reading this might be able to bring some responsible engineering into a situation that seems to be ruled more by emotion and ignorance than reason and knowledge, and, possibly save some of our present or future colleague's lives. Of course, you have to be willing to help.
