Developments in biological treatment of industrial wastewaters

The characteristics and biological treatment technologies of several kinds of industrial wastewater are summarised. Biological treatment of industrial wastewater is a well-established system with applications going back for over a century. However, developments are still taking place but at the design stage, more emphasis will be placed on small “tootprint” systems, odour control and minirnization of excess sludge production.
