Formula for analyzing hopf bifurcation

Cesari and Hale showed that, using Liapunov-Schmidt reduction, the Hopf bifurcation can be treated as a bifurcation of zeros of a certain reduced mapping. A very simple formula connecting the vector field and its reduced mapping are presented in this paper. In some cases, this formula may be used to analyze the reduced mapping roughly without difficult computation.
