Dynamic statistics of attenuation for a 12 GHz satellite beacon link in Brazil

Results on the statistical analysis of the number and duration of individual fade events (denominated "dynamic analysis") are presented for measurements carried out for 14 months on a 12 GHz satellite beacon receiver located in Rio de Janeiro (elevation angle: 62.8/spl deg/). A Weibull model for the survivorship function of attenuation is compared with good results against the established lognormal model. The daily distribution of attenuation events showed heavy a concentration between 16 and 24 hours GMT-3.
