Monitoring oscillations modes of the Brazilian Interconnected Power System using ambient data

In this paper, the development of an unsupervised mode meter to monitor the Brazilian Interconnected Power System (BIPS) modes in near real-time is presented. Currently all geo-electric regions of the country are covered by a low voltage WAMS. The tracking mode algorithm is tested in a Linear Parameter-Varying System and then applied to track the BIPS dominant modes.
