Study on imaging and image recovering of a new concentric symmetrical synthetic aperture

Future space based imaging system require larger aperture sizes to keep pace with the demand for high spatial resolution, the cost and weight becomes increasingly prohibitive for large full aperture. A new concentric symmetrical synthetic aperture is thus presented in this paper at the first time-called the ring-sector aperture. It is a segmental structure and easy to be processed. The pupil function and the MTF distribution are given, and the optical performance is analyzed. The paper also generates image simulation for ring-sector aperture and full aperture. The image of ring-sector-aperture system becomes blurry because of the MTF loss in mid-frequency. The principle of image recovering with Wiener filter is presented, and the recovering results show that the contrast of ring-sector-aperture image can be improved even equivalence to the full aperture's. The ring-sector aperture is value to be researched and adopted.
