A 6/4 pole PM-assisted synchronous reluctance motor drive

To save energy and reduce carbon emission, a current vector drive based on a three-phase 6/4 pole permanent magnet assistant synchronous reluctance motor (PMA-SynRM) without position sensors is proposed for industrial applications. Using a 6/4 pole PMA-SynRM, a three-phase full bridge inverter is combined with the current vector control scheme with third harmonic current injection and current phase advancing to exhibit drive's performance. Quietness, robustness and quick speed response can be achieved. When a three-phase, 400 W, 6/4 pole, PMA-SynRM drive system was operated from 100 to 3000 rpm, experimental results show that it exhibits a steady-state speed error below 0.1%, a shaft torque at 3 N-m, and a maximal acoustic noise at 72 dB, shaft torque is high, torque ripple is less, dynamical speed response is quick. It is suitable for high performance industrial applications with energy-saving.
