Non-cubic-cell time-domain method and its application to eigenvalue problems

This paper describes the application of a non-cubic-cell time-domain method to the solution of three-dimensional eigenvalue problems. In the non-cubic-cell time-domain method, surface integral forms of Maxwell's equations are directly discretized in space and time. This algorithm is faster than the volume integral non-cubic-element time-domain method and simple as compared with the nonorthogonal FD-TD method. The steady-state solutions are obtained by Fourier transform. Numerical results of resonant frequency and estimates of the Q value of a cavity are presented.
