A Study on the Control of CO2 in Industrial Department in Low-Carbon Economic Zone by Using the LMDI Method - Take Jilin City as an Example

Reducing the emission of CO
₂
in industrial department is one of the key factors of the development of low-carbon city and the construction of low-carbon economic zone. Relevant analysis shows that the emissions of industrial CO
₂
are affected by population size, rate of economic development, industrial structure (industrialization), energy intensity, and energy consumption structure, etc. By using the logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI), the article constructs a model about the emission of CO
₂
in low-carbon zone and conducts a positive analysis on the factors which influence CO
₂
emissions in industrial department in Jilin City during the period of 1999-2007. Aggregate decomposition analysis shows that economic development is always considered as the major contributor of CO
₂
emission. As to other factors: such as the influence of population size is relatively insignificant in Jilin City, the industrialization rate and energy consumption structure are fluctuating greatly. Moreover, the change of industrial energy intensity is obviously negative, which becomes the most effective CO
₂
emissions of Jilin City. According to the decomposition analysis, while developing of energy conservation and emission reduction, Jilin City should also focus on energy structure adjustment including reducing the proportion of coal in energy consumption, developing and utilizing clean energy to effectively control carbon emissions.
