Reconstruction algorithm for electrical impedance tomography based on the linear approximation method

The bases of an enhanced electrical impedance model and reconstruction algorithm are presented. The algorithm makes use of Taylor's expansion linear approximation of the squared error between the predicted and the measured values. The electrical equivalent-model is obtained by using the finite element method. In addition, a modified Newton-Raphson's iterative method and Geselowitz sensitivity theorem are used. Also, an attractive method to minimize the number of equations is presented. The algorithm was tested on an PC/AT running Maple V, obtaining promising results. These high level model and reconstruction routines permit an easy test of the robustness of this and other algorithms.
