Treatment of Emulsion Wastewater by Demulsification-Fenton Oxidation-coagulation

A combined process, demulsification-Fenton oxidation-coagulation, has been employed to treat a sort of high-strength and stable emulsion wastewater produced from a machinery factory. The influences of demulsifier species, dosage of Fenton reagents, oxidation reaction time and pH of coagulation have been investigated. The results indicate that AlCl
₃
is the most effective demulsifier and the optimal dosage of AlCl
₃
is 2.4g/L. The removal rates of CODcr are 91.18%, 76.95%, 65.79% by demulsification, Fenton oxidation and coagulation respectively. After the treatment by the combined process, the removal rate of CODcr is up to 98.94% and the turbidity and chromaticity tend toward 0 in comparison with raw wastewater with turbidity of 1030 NTU and chromaticity of 500.
