The simulation of adaptive antennas

This paper describes how a simulation of an adaptive satellite antenna may be designed in order to combine modeling fidelity and flexibility, using experience gained in constructing just such a simulation. It discusses the broadband modeling of user and jammer signals, and their propagation through the hardware components, as well as the modeling of the system's adaptive response to them. The monitoring of simulated system performance in ways that permit straightforward comparison with measurements is briefly discussed, as are the types of tradeoff studies and the outputs that are desirable for the purposes of antenna design and characterization.
