Analysis and design of current-fed push-pull resonant inverters-cold cathode fluorescent lamp drivers

The current-fed push-pull resonant inverter provides a good solution for cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) drivers. However, to implement such a circuit, effective analysis and design procedures are needed. This paper presents a design-oriented analysis for the current-fed push-pull resonant inverter for CCFL applications. Approximate analysis techniques yield useful equations for the resonant waveforms and the peak stresses on the components. The results of the analysis are verified with experiments. A step-by-step design procedure is also presented for reference.
