Electrification and power quality in the developing world

Extensive electrification programs are currently under way in developing countries in order to provide electricity to all their people (currently two billion people still do not have access to electricity). This paper proposes that it is of importance to address the issue of power quality in the distribution systems in these electrification programs and discusses some strategies to achieve this.
