Current Multiplier by Inductive Storage (CMIS) Cooled by ${\rm LN}_{2}$ and Design of Mega-Ampere CMIS

A current multiplier by inductive storage (CMIS) is the pulsed-power supply generating a large current pulse by adding the low currents in a lot of storage inductors which can be switched with the current technology. The experimental apparatus consists of 12 storage inductors cooled by liquid nitrogen (LN
₂
), and the peak output current of 490 A is obtained by using 12 batteries with 12 V. The CMIS has three features of the realization by using the current technology, the generation of a continuous pulse, and the variable rising time of the output current. Lastly, the conceptual design of the mega-ampere CMIS is discussed.
