A study on the combination of a Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle and a Fuel Cell

This paper presents the result of quantitatively evaluating the energy saving effect by the combination of pHV and SOFC as parameters of the usage pattern of pHV and the demand characteristic of a house. First, we modeled energy system models of the house, and derived the optimal operation of pHV and SOFC by the analysis. Then, we compared the analysis result of various driving patterns, driving distances, and electricity/hot water demand characteristics. In conclusion, the effect of energy efficiency improvement by the combination of pHV and SOFC correlates to the available capacity of SOFC, the amount of pHV of necessary charge, and the charge chance by the available capacity. And, we confirmed that the amount of primary energy reduction increased by combination compared to the ICEV house in all case.
